Verified Status in Bsky.app?

Bsky (Bluesky) does not offer a (paid or unpaid) verified status, so how do you know it’s really me?

In the mess that’s social media, I think it’s important to be verified…

So what we can do in Bluesky is to use their self verification method… you can buy a domain from them, or anyone else, and add a DNS record to do the verification (this will change your handle to that domain). So here’s what I did…

I have the domain charlesrsmith.com (this site, although you may have reached it by the Ingleneuk name (it’s the primary name, IYKYK)). Using that do the following

1) Open up a window on your Domain name provider, and One on bsky.app

2) Select (from your Account page) Settings —> Account —> Handle

3) Select “I have my own domain” and enter your domain… in my case charlesrsmith.com, then

4) in the window for your Domain name provider go to their DNS management page (on Network solutions it is several levels down under the domain and advanced settings), where you add the record (as show in the bluesky directions.
